Aditi Goenka, Nitesh Dogne, Vipendra Singh Thakur

Abstract

There has been tremendous use of natural resources for several generations which lead to scarcity and unsustainable environment thereby affecting the economic development of the country. Overpopulation is the major cause for scarcity. Environmental pollution and climate change cannot be ignored as they are all a result of our activities that today we are experiencing an unsustainable environment. It is each one who is responsible for the degradation we need to limit our wants because they are a major cause for depletion. “There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that is you and your own surrounding.  So, you have to begin there, and the picture of the entire universe that seems helpless and unwanted today will transform”. Buildings are highly responsible for carbon emissions. Building designs can be improved for better performance and sustainability. The aim of this research is to derive a design approach for sustainability, focusing on natural resources and their use.
