An Overview: Current Scenario of the Water Supply in India

Mr Pappal Suneja

Abstract

This paper shall primarily focus on the main source of water supply, its consumption, storage and treatment. The water distribution methods (Gravity & Hydro-pneumatic system) internal distribution constraints as per usage for a flat, sprinkler irrigation for landscaping etc. shall also be detailed out. Strictly speaking, raw water is used for Daily human domestic needs and the treated water needs to be stored in RO plants or a small tank which is only used after purification at home. Generally, this treated water is used only for washing and other purposes but is not used for cooking and drinking purposes. After treating almost 40% is rejected water. This water needs to be supplied separately for washing and cooking. For the water to be used for cooking and drinking needs, the water should further be purified or treated by Basic Softening which removes the unwanted minerals and salts present.
